Wow, it’s such a beautiful day outside! Did you know that rhubarb makes flowers? I didn’t.
So when I saw this big huge bundle of blooms trying to sprout from my plant I had to run right back into the house and google “rhubarb flowers”. The info said that it should be cut off. If it is left to grow the plant won’t grow as heartily as it should. So I cut it off. I won’t be harvesting any this year. I’m hoping for lots of thick rhubarb next year. This in the second growing season for this plant and I’m very fortunate that it is still alive.
The story goes like this…. Grace loved to plant things. We bought this plant last summer and planted it together. But she just couldn’t leave it alone. She had to dig it up. She tore every leaf and stalk off, one by one and then just left it on the ground. I’m not really sure why she did it, except that her medication WASN’T working. I replanted it and it miraculously came back to life! And this year it grows. So I’ll leave it one more year, and pray that Grace’s medication continues to work, and that the plant continues to stay in the ground. (It’s interesting how this story turned yellow. I accidently hit a key and I’m not sure what I did, but hey, it looks good!)
Emily had a dentist appointment today. She goes up to the Children’s hospital for her dentist. They know about dental issues for children who have special needs. She has a new dentist there whom she saw once before. He is really nice and Emily didn’t cry at all. This is just amazing since she has always cried at the dentist. She just can’t handle someone touching her mouth and teeth. But she just smiles at this guy (could it be because she likes guys?) and today she even tried to talk to him!
We didn’t get a picture of the dentist as I forgot my camera. Next time….
