Thursday’s Thoughts – Nursing Care

Emily is still very sick today. Her heart rate is running high and she is having difficulty keeping her oxygen up. We’re suctioning her much more often than we used to. She’s on antibiotic for a bladder infection and her kidney has a stone in it that hurts. I feel so bad for her. Today she sits in her wheel chair and looks as if she is just trying to get through the day.

Next week an oversight nurse comes from the state to check on Emily’s need for nursing care. I know our state is in deep financial trouble and their way to save on money is to get people off of services that don’t really need it. We’ve been through this before. The nurse will try to convince me that we don’t need nursing care.

At the very least I imagine the nurse will ask to cut some of our nursing hours. We have been so blessed to have as much support as we’ve had for the last 4 years. Now faced with the thought of not having nursing care, again, is daunting. I know that God will see us through. He is so faithful.

Please pray with us that Emily will begin to recover from this illness, and have the support she needs, whether it be through my experienced hands or in combination with nursing care.

There is one blessing from Mog's illness before Christmas - when those with the power to make decisions saw her, they were very clear that everything we were asking for was necessary.

I am so sorry E is suffering with everything - but I really hope that she demonstrates all this to your oversight nurse when she visits. Sometimes illnesses can help.

Then, of course, I hope she gets lots better very quickly!

I pray the nurse sees the situation through caring eyes not finacial ones. Sending a prayer that you get all the nursing care you need.

Hope E feels brighter soon.

I'm praying right now for Emily to have a speedy recovery from this recent illness. I'm also praying that God will give you favor with the person coming for the nursing evaluation. God knows what you need before you ask!
