Embroidering a Happy New Year

We had quite a nice Christmas at our house.  Family and friends visited, and grandma stayed for several days.

We bought Emily a Wii for Christmas and were pleasantly surprised how happy she was with it. We have to help her hold the controller but she has fun in the competition, playing bowling mostly.

Emily has been sick since about the 27th.  She is on oxygen right now but started steroids and seems to be holding her own.

This year on my blog I’m going to focus on my adventures in sewing embroidery.  A sewing machine does not a seamstress make.  This is true at my house.  The women in my family love to sew, except me.  I’m the odd (wo)man out.

I love crafts, but I have never enjoyed sewing, mostly because I  make too many mistakes.  I happened to come across a good deal on an embroidery machine so I purchased it.  My mother has crafted with machine embroidery for many years.  I knew that if I needed help I could call her.  And call her I have!  Woah Boy.

I was having such adventures with my new embroidery machine that I decided to make this the focus of my blog for now.  I’ll include tidbits about the girls as I go along. That way everyone will still hear the news from here.

So, come back tomorrow and read along as the adventure begins!

Thanks for listening ~

I have a machine embroidery unit I've never really gotten to grips with. I look forwards to Reading about your adventures; maybe you'll be the inspiration I need to get it sorted!

Glad E is doing better - hope she is off the oxygen soon. Mog had a horrible chest thing just before Christmas and was hospitalised for a while. The Drs said there are some particularly nasty respiratory lurgies doing the rounds at the moment.

PS - was about to post but couldn't resist commenting - the word verification for me is "dowyedin" which with my accent is "do your head in"; I hope that's not a comment on the embroidery machine!

Oh boy! A new blog-focus sounds so FUN! I can't wait to check out your new creations. :o)

I'm like you - not a bit of sewing know-how or even desire in me; but I do appreciate beautiful sewing when OTHERS do it! lol!!!

(In fact, I like to look at pretty knitting, too. I follow a blogger in Sydney, Australia just because she knits such bee-yoo-tee-ful things!)

Happy New Year to all of you - may it be healthy and happy! (We started the year with a sick little one, too, so I'm really hoping for health all the way 'round this year!)
